Sunrise, wild irises, Bishop

Description:In April, wild irises fill a cow pasture off Barlow Lane in West Bishop, at the foot of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The delicate blossoms only last for three to six weeks, making the display all the more precious. Owens Valley is often called “America’s Deepest Valley” and the sun rises on the 13,000+’ peaks long before it reaches the 4,000’ valley floor.
