Sand Dunes, Death Valley, California

Description:At sunrise, the warm glow of the rising sun turns the dunes a golden color. The dunes are located at and below sea level some 30 miles northwest of Badwater which, at 282 feet below sea level is the lowest point in the western hemisphere. The rugged and barren peaks in the background are the 8,000-foot Grapevine Mountains of the Armagosa Range, some 15 miles away.
