Jeffry Pine on top of Sentinal Dome, Yosemite, California
| Description: | This wind-shaped Jeffery Pine sits at the very summit of 8,122-foot Sentinel Dome above Yosemite Valley. It was made famous by a 1940 Ansel Adams photograph. Killed by the great drought of 1977, it’s twisted trunk stood as a monument to the tenacity of life – even after death. In mid-August of 2003, we were saddened to hear that the remaining trunk had fallen during a heavy storm– making this photograph an historical one. |
