Afternoon light
Mono Lake
Eastern Sierra, CA

Description:Late afternoon light illuminates the South Tufa towers area of Mono Lake. Mono Lake lies at 6,385 feet and is more than two times saltier than the ocean. Within Mono Lake’s briny waters are trillions of brine shrimp, Artemia monica, a species of brine shrimp found nowhere else in the world. The Tufa towers here are 200 to 900 years old.
