||With a white head like an American bald eagle, the African Fish-Eagle has similar habits. Found in most of Sub-Saharan Africa, it hunts from perches over water, gliding down with its feet extended far forward. It feeds mostly on large river fish that swim near the surface. When the fishing is good, it can catch its daily quota of one or two in about ten minutes. This eagle will also take young flamingos, ducks, nestling waders, crocodile hatchlings, monitor lizards, and turtles. A pirate, it will snatch fish from herons, pelicans, storks, and even kingfishers.
