Leopard stalking bushbuck, near Shingwedzi, Kruger NP, South Africa

Description:This female leopard crouches low and stealthily approaches a bushbuck along the Kanniedooh Dam on the Shingwedzi River in Kruger National Park. Despite the heavy brush, I got a clear view of the leopard in the mid-day sun. She got to within a few feet of the bushbuck (a small antelope) but failed to catch it. Leopards make most of their kills at night.
